I was so happy with my experience here! We enjoyed a hungry cowboy with mac and cheese! I loved that it was midwest nased and their new sauce was SO GOOD! Excited for burnt ends and more to come!

Very friendly and clean place to take breakfast, dinner or lunch. Best BBQ in town.

Excellent BBQ. They close at 2 so be sure to get there early if you want hot food. We got there at 1:30 and food was great but it was lukewarm.

Was better when it was Hitching Post. Small portions now and higher prices. Not much smoke flavor. Like they smoked it for a little while then finish it in the oven. But it's hard to compare to Sonny's in Florida. Maybe some day a good smoked meat place will open here.

Had chopped bbq sandwich. Wasn't much flavor. Restaurant was very clean. Employees were nice. Just lacked bbq flavor.

Love the beef brisket. Pulled pork? Not so much. The owners are very nice and accommendating. Will give a 5 because this is the first bad experience I have had. The pork had a strong old taste. The Cole slaw was sour. Just won't order these again.

I ordered a 2-meat plate from here on Doordash, and although the food was good, for $15.99, I got around 3-4 small slices of brisket and around half a sausage worth of sliced sausage. Not a good value.

I got a half pound of sliced brisket. I got 3/8 pound of fat and 1/8 pound of meat. I ordered brisket not FAT. Never again.

I usually find the positive in any situation...a glass half full kinda gal. But this was our first, and likely last visit to Fatwood BBQ. The food was okay, the brisket was tasty but a bit tough to eat with cheap plastic utensils, the rolls were dry. I did like the coleslaw, though the portion was about the size of a condiment container. And if I said I had 2-3oz of meat it is probably a generous statement. The waitress seemed bored, indifferent at best, there was no ice for the drinks and we were pestered by many flies! It was really disappointing for my husband and my "date night."

We went there are got us some ribs. On the plate there was ribs. Mac n cheese. And a roll. The mac and cheese was okay, not a huge deal of flavor but okay. The roll was good, nice and soft on the inside, crunchy top. The ribs were small, and had no sauce on them. It was all just dry rub. Seemed to be done in an oven and zero grill time. However it came off the bone nicely. So we tried the BBQ sauce on the table and it was very thin and watery, and waaaaay to sweet. It was also Awkwardly quiet in there my husband and i kind of just looked at each other awkwardly... Waiting for a cricket. Or another person.... We seen the cook and he was definitely very pleasant. Overall i wouldn't go again just because it wasnt really worth the money we paid. I also think the location is a big disadvantage. But the staff were nice!

I ordered the sliced beef brisket, no bread and pinto beans. Their was about 5 beans in the small cup, and those were crunchy.....undercooked and had bad flavor. The beef was a small portion and had alot of fat. It was pretty pink .....I hope it was cooked enough. The meal was $9.72, and i left hungry and pretty disappointed. The flies were awful as well, i hat to keep waving them away from the food. I would not recomend.

I love this BBQ, we drive 45 minutes each way to eat here. They serve the best ribs around and none of the meats give you heartburn! Slaw is made daily and Mac n' cheese is yummy. The cobbler actually has fruit unlike a major Las Cruces/El Paso chain which has tons of breading but very little fruit. We haven't had a bad meal yet. Kudos to the staff for knowing their business.

If I could give less stars I would. I used to love this place but it has really gone downhill. I got about 1/3 of the food I used to get for more money. The brisket was undercooked and mostly fat and the pulled pork literally had no flavor what so ever! And talk about grease.....there waa probably a quarter cup of grease on the bottom of my plastic basket. Not appetizing at all. The mac. &cheese was okay but needed more flavor.....and was only given maybe 2 ounces. Overall extremely disappointed....and sadly will not be going back. Not worth my money.

Pulled pork was amazing and the potato salad is excellent! Definitely recommend this place

This place is a disappointment. I had never visited the BBQ joint that was located here before this one popped up a few months ago, but I sure hope it was better than this. My first sign should have been the empty dining room at 12:30PM. I ordered the 3 meat plate which comes with one side. The ribs and brisket were both bland. The brisket was so dry that when pulled apart the individual fibers of meat crumbled from the lack of moisture. The ribs seemed to be a cheap cut and contained much more bone than meat. The ribs were also quite dry. The brisket and ribs had a an overwhelming liquid smoke flavor. The mac and cheese seemed to be lacking cheese and it tasted like uncooked flour with no other prevalent flavor. The jalapeno sausage was the most palatable item that I ordered and it was still either past it's prime or overcooked. The customer service also left something to be desired, which is consistent with the food.

It was my first time here and it was absolutely a good choice! Our food was fresh and so delicious! A great atmosphere and such a friendly vibe! I would highly recommend this place for BBQ! The owner who was the one who served us was awesome! He took great interest in his customers and was very appreciative for our business!

What a great place to get a brisket sandwich great BQ flavour

Such a great, welcoming place to eat. As soon as you walk in the door you can smell the delicious BBQ. The staff is very friendly and knowledge about the product and take the time to explain the menu. If you hungry for BBQ and want to take your family to a great local restaurant this is the place to go!

The prices are not great, especially for the quality of food. This was among the worst bbq I've ever had. The brisket was chopped brisket and every single piece had large chunks of fat on it. Not the good tasting fat, but the hardened, gristly kind that you really dont wanna eat. The pulled pork was flavorless and extremely oily. The bottom of my plate was a thick layer of grease and oils. The rolls they serve with the meals were stale and hard. My husband did say the ribs were great-so I guess just stick to those if you choose to come here.

I decided to try this place a cause I was craving Barbecue. I got a 3 meat one side dish. I chose the ribs, pulled pork, and sliced brisket. All the meats were really dry and didn't taste that good. The ribs had wayyyyyy to much pepper to the point it’s not even ribs. The Mac and cheese tasted like plastic and the peach cobbler wasn’t even peach cobbler. Also the barbecue sauce wasn’t that good either. Never going back.

Great place to stop. The experience starts when you pull up and can smell the smoke!! The cowboy plate was amazing!!! I had brisket, spicy sausage, and ribs, with baked beans. The staff was friendly and the service was excellent. Clean atmosphere, from the tables, restrooms and decor. Truly a one of a kind place to visit if you like BBQ. My Wife and I will definitely be back.

I have stopped eating meat otherwise I would eat here as often as possible. The owners are wonderful people and the food is great!

Little known fact about this place... Their breakfast is amazing. Frank makes a killer french toast that has made me a regular on Saturday mornings. Love this place. Gives me a little part of my Texas roots here in Southern NM.

I placed order online because couldn't find a working number we ordered it was delivered which was great but when we opened food alot smaller portions then we thought we ordered 2 half pound brisket and half pound pork we received only 2 small maybe 4 oz sauce to go with the meat which clearly not enough food was good but we paid 47.00 don't feel like we got our money's worth food was good but smaller then what i feel like i paid for

Good food. Not fast food. Owner is a nice guy. Country atmosphere and furnishings. Coleslaw is awesome. Marge's desserts are more than awesome, like heavenly, especially a la mode. Moderate, not high or low, pricing. More than DQ, but way less than Lawry's in Chicago (but no less tasty).

Very clean. Friendly wait staff. I had the Baby Back rib plate with cole Slaw and baked beans. The plate of food came with a delicious roll which some honeyed butter would have been great. The ribs were very tender. There were 2 bbq sauces. Mild and spicy. The Cole slaw could have had a little bit of vinegar to add that zip Cole slaw should have. The prices were very fair

I had their brisket and itwad delicious. I wanted to try their ribs but they ran out of it.

Ive been there 5 times at three different locations and never ate a rib. Seems like any time of day they're always out.I walk in and they ask what kind of i would like. I say " maybe ribs?" They say anything but ribs!! Lol!! Brisket was good, small portions. But after 3 locations, maybe they can up grade to a comparable fast food joint like arbys next door. Good luck!

Just had lunch at Fatwood BBQ at White Sands mall in Alamogordo. I went a couple times after they first opened. I bragged to everyone I know about how good it was. Things have changed though and they must be stretching the budget in order to stay open. Originally, they gave good size portions of meat. Now they're skimping. Its a dramatic difference. They charge more for a 2 meat plate, but they reduced the quantity to be the same as a 1 meat plate. Doesn't make sense. Also, doesn't help to keep customers coming back. I won't go back anytime soon.

Best bbq PERIOD! You will mot be dissapointed.

I ate for the first time and was pleasantly impressed with the order, the smoke flavor was just right I tried the sausage and brisket and both were excellent, I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
